This competition is a recognition of the South Island’s young horses, ponies and riders who, with the right nurturing, will become the future stars of our sport. It gives them the opportunity to spotlight their very special talent at a young age and introduce them to the world of competitive dressage in a professional and supportive atmosphere.

The format of the competition in 2026 was modified to allow participation from all levels of combinations, and to encourage more young horses and ponies to take part, regardless of their registration status.

Organised by the Dressage Canterbury Group since 2017, the show has steadily grown in popularity and attendance culminating in entry numbers similar to that of the annual Canterbury Dressage Championships themselves.

Syncroflex have partnered Canterbury Dressage from the inaugural show. Since sponsoring naming rights from 2018, the name “Syncroflex” and the event “The Festival of Future Stars” have become synonymous.
